FAQ
How do I calculate utilisation rate?
Resource utilisation = assigned or planned hours ÷ available hours. Billable utilisation = billable hours ÷ available hours. Available hours should already subtract leave, public holidays and contracted non-working days. See the full worked example in how to calculate utilisation rate.
What is the difference between resource utilisation and billable utilisation?
Resource utilisation is how full someone’s calendar is (assigned ÷ available). Billable utilisation — sometimes called chargeability — is how much of their available time is client-billable work (billable ÷ available). Someone can be 100% utilised on internal work and still have low billable utilisation.
What is a good utilisation rate for an agency?
For delivery roles, many professional services firms plan in a 70–85% range so there is room for leave, sickness, sales support and the work that never makes the timesheet. 100% is not a healthy target. These are planning ranges, not Kavaro settings.
Does this calculator import hours into Kavaro?
No. Hours stay in your browser. There is no import, sync, or upload. If you want utilisation from live bookings and timesheets, that is a separate product workflow in Kavaro.
Is utilisation the same as utilization?
Yes. Utilisation is the UK spelling; utilization is the US spelling. The formula is the same.
